Lance Neal
“I must be the most famous unknown artist and the oldest “blue baby” in the world. Born in Cashmere, Washington, U.S.A., in 1944, I wasn’t expected to live longer than four to five years. Around two years of age I began to draw”. – Lance Neal.
As a result of his heart condition Lance’s childhood was limited to observing nature and those around him, and painting. He sold his first painting when he was 14 years old and since then he has made a living from his art. Although he has painted some 1,300 oil paintings and about 4,000 elaborate drawings, he is still “unknown”, as most of his paintings were sold direct and are private collections all over the world, especially in the U.S.A., Japan and Ireland. Lance had his own personality of his subjects, in landscapes and seascapes he reproduces the atmosphere, tranquillity, serenity or the turmoil of the scene. Known for his exceptional talent and also his unique personality, Lance was universally loved by those who met him. His ability to talk to anyone, from all walks of life endeared him to everyone he knew. Possessing a vast wealth of knowledge on madly diverse subjects, Lance also had a wicked sense of humor and a kind heart. A gentleman, a lover of Guinness, a ‘rolly’ and having the ‘craic’, Lance was truly one of a kind.
